I have been having trouble trying to trace the birth certificate of someone in my tree. According to the census’s he was born in 1877 in Smallthorne. However the parentage of this person is in question. He is called Thomas Brough and his mother is Fanny nee burgess however she lived with a Joseph Bowyer after the death of her husband Mr Brough. Sometimes he is listed as Thomas Bowyer so this is where the problem lies. I have tried getting a birth certificate using both names but am at a loss. Can anyone help me please.
